Job description

The R&D Engineer is in charge of the development and implementation of the position control algorithm for the pump’s actuator. Your activities will cover the following:

  • Manage and support a junior engineer and technicians in charge of the execution of experimental test campaigns related to the position control algorithm performance,
  • Plan experiments on the development test setup and analyze test results to:
    • Evaluate the control algorithm performance and provide feedback to improve the control strategy,
    • Evaluate the position sensors’ performance, refine the requirements & improve their implementation,
    • Evaluate the actuator’s control properties & refine the actuator’s electro-mechanical model,
    • Evaluate the pump head controllability & refine the pump head load model,
  • In collaboration with the Electronics teams, work on the implementation of the control algorithm within the portable pump controller board & provide update specifications for the development of the motor controller hardware,
  • Select and evaluate the performance of various sensors for implementation to improve the reliability and precision of the position control algorithms,
  • Contribute to software and hardware risk assessment and mitigation activities,
  • Contribute to the scientific watch on relevant topics (non-linear actuator control, trajectory tracking, state estimation & feedback control, etc.).


Holding a master’s degree in Engineering (control, electrical, mechatronics, robotics), you have 5+ years of experience in motor and actuator control development, automation, acquisition systems and electrical troubleshooting. Medical device experience required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following capabilities, competencies, and experience:

  • Ability to work in an international team environment using the talents of various individuals to provide the best results,
  • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Octave, SciLab, etc.,
  • Knowledge of multi-physics, vibratory, nonlinear and highly dynamic systems is strongly recommended,
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis software (COMSOL, ANSYS, MagNet, MotorCAD, EMWorks, etc.) applied to actuator and magnet design and analysis is required,
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks is strongly preferred,
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, medical, defense, etc. is strongly preferred,
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 60601, 60950, 61000, 61010, 62841, or similar electrical safety standards are preferred.

You have a very good level in French and English.
