Job description

This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of electronic systems for one of the most complex and technically demanding medical devices.

Your knowledge and experience of a range of technologies will enable you to select design solutions to develop a well-integrated, highly reliable system with an intuitive human interface.

As R&D Director/Manager, Electrical Systems – F/M, you will oversee the design, manufacture, verification and validation, culminating in a successful human clinical trial of this game-changing technology.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Steering the development of all electronic components for the CorWave LVAD
  • Preparation and execution of the project plan for electronics development, including internal and external resources, schedules, milestones and budget
  • Evaluation and determination of sub-project and task allocation between internal team members and external consultants
  • Coordination and selection of subcontractors for the development and manufacture of discrete components, such as batteries, chargers and power supplies.
  • Management of all aspects of day-to-day team operations, resource planning and prioritization
  • Build and manage teams on site and potentially in remote locations
  • Setting clear expectations and creating a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with engineering and management teams (hiring, mentoring and coaching electronics development teams).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of product development processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5 years’ higher education from an engineering school specializing in electronics and electrical engineering, or electrical engineering and industrial computing, or electronics and electrical engineering
  • You have at least 8 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position in the development of critical electronic systems.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position (international environment).
Specific knowledge
  • You have multifunctional knowledge (electricity, software, manufacturing).
Technical skills
  • You have at least 5 years’ experience in team management (team building and leadership).
  • You have experience in the development of medical electronics systems or in the design of critical analog and digital systems.
People skills
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to delegate and place trust in others
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize
  • Team spirit
  • Good leadership skills.
